- The province’s cosmetics, health foods, and more to enter export markets in Thailand and Vietnam -
Chungcheongbuk-do and the Chungbuk Headquarters of the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) announced that from Tuesday, September 24, to Sunday, September 29, they sent a trade mission to key strategic markets in ASEAN, including Bangkok, Thailand, and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. During this mission, 144 export consultations were held, totaling USD 67.52 million (approximately KRW 87.7 billion) in potential deals. Ten companies participated in the mission, including SOMA, C.L Medisys, Taewoong Food, BEXCO, Dejuvent, Wellfarm, KOSHUR, Mignon Korea, TE BioS, and HaHa Food. The trade mission coincided with the signing of letters of intent for friendly exchange between Chungcheongbuk-do and Bangkok, and for friendly cooperation between Chungcheongbuk-do and Chiang Mai. This collaboration created significant synergy with Chungcheongbuk-do's broader visits to Vietnam and Thailand, further enhancing its success. C.L Medisys (professional cosmetics and beauty devices) participated in the Chungbuk ASEAN Trade Mission and signed on-site export MOUs worth USD 1.94 million in Thailand and Vietnam. Mignon Korea (eyelash cosmetics) secured USD 2 million, Dejuvent (cosmetics) signed USD 1.94 million, and SOMA (feed additives) secured USD 10 million in export MOUs. Additionally, Taewoong Food signed a USD 1 million export contract with a buyer at the Thailand Chungcheongbuk-do Goods Fair in June. The export companies that signed on-site contracts primarily consist of promising exporters in the province specializing in functional cosmetics and health foods aimed at enhancing health and beauty. This trend is attributed to the continuous growth of the middle-class and affluent populations in Thailand and Vietnam, along with an increasing interest in health and beauty, leading local buyers to favor Korean functional products. Governor Kim Young-hwan, who visited the export consultation center during the ASEAN trade mission in Bangkok, stated, “This achievement reflects the excellent quality of Chungbuk exporters and the high demand for health and beauty products among Thai and Vietnamese consumers. Through the ASEAN trade mission, we have reaffirmed the global competitiveness of Chungbuk companies, and we will continue to actively support our local businesses in expanding overseas.” |
