GREETINGS
Message from Governor.

The sea of Chungbuk is the sea of dreams.

There is no sea in Chungbuk, but there is a lake.

There is no port, but there is Baekdu-daegan.

There are no ships, but there are ten thousand paths to the world on foot.

Thank You. Young Hwan Kim

"Working Babfor" Community Service Pilot Launched at Yukgeori Traditional Market
- Restoring the self-esteem of vulnerable elderly through volunteering, while revitalizing traditional markets - The Working Babfor Silver Volunteer Group, led by Lee Jung-woo, announced on Friday, the 11th, the launch of the "Working Babfor" pilot project at Yukgeori Traditional Market. The project, running two to three times a week until December, engages elderly volunteers in pre-processing agricultural products sold at the market. This initiative aims to support vulnerable elderly residents in the Yukgeori Traditional Market area by providing them with opportunities to participate in pre-processing tasks at the market's workshop. In return for their work, the volunteers receive Onnuri Gift Certificates, which they can use to buy food or other daily necessities. The "Working Babfor" pilot project involved around 20 elderly volunteers from senior citizen associations near the Yukgeori and Sangdang Park areas. They spent two hours in a market workshop performing tasks like picking garlic cloves and peeling sweet potatoes. The initiative is expected to boost the self-esteem of vulnerable elderly participants, helping to reduce their sense of isolation. At the same time, it aims to revitalize the traditional market by attracting new consumers. Governor Kim Young-hwan praised the project's purpose, stating, "The 'Working Babfor' pilot project is a meaningful initiative that resonates with everyone. We hope it expands beyond Yukgeori Traditional Market to all cities and counties." He also pledged full support for the project, which has taken a promising first step toward becoming sustainable. Lee Jung-woo, chairman of the Working Babfor Silver Volunteer Group, added that they plan to run the pilot project through December, evaluate its impact and scalability, and gradually expand the project across the province.

Chungbuk ASEAN Trade Mission Achieves USD 67.52 Million in Export Consultations
- The province’s cosmetics, health foods, and more to enter export markets in Thailand and Vietnam - Chungcheongbuk-do and the Chungbuk Headquarters of the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) announced that from Tuesday, September 24, to Sunday, September 29, they sent a trade mission to key strategic markets in ASEAN, including Bangkok, Thailand, and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. During this mission, 144 export consultations were held, totaling USD 67.52 million (approximately KRW 87.7 billion) in potential deals. Ten companies participated in the mission, including SOMA, C.L Medisys, Taewoong Food, BEXCO, Dejuvent, Wellfarm, KOSHUR, Mignon Korea, TE BioS, and HaHa Food. The trade mission coincided with the signing of letters of intent for friendly exchange between Chungcheongbuk-do and Bangkok, and for friendly cooperation between Chungcheongbuk-do and Chiang Mai. This collaboration created significant synergy with Chungcheongbuk-do's broader visits to Vietnam and Thailand, further enhancing its success. C.L Medisys (professional cosmetics and beauty devices) participated in the Chungbuk ASEAN Trade Mission and signed on-site export MOUs worth USD 1.94 million in Thailand and Vietnam. Mignon Korea (eyelash cosmetics) secured USD 2 million, Dejuvent (cosmetics) signed USD 1.94 million, and SOMA (feed additives) secured USD 10 million in export MOUs. Additionally, Taewoong Food signed a USD 1 million export contract with a buyer at the Thailand Chungcheongbuk-do Goods Fair in June. The export companies that signed on-site contracts primarily consist of promising exporters in the province specializing in functional cosmetics and health foods aimed at enhancing health and beauty. This trend is attributed to the continuous growth of the middle-class and affluent populations in Thailand and Vietnam, along with an increasing interest in health and beauty, leading local buyers to favor Korean functional products. Governor Kim Young-hwan, who visited the export consultation center during the ASEAN trade mission in Bangkok, stated, “This achievement reflects the excellent quality of Chungbuk exporters and the high demand for health and beauty products among Thai and Vietnamese consumers. Through the ASEAN trade mission, we have reaffirmed the global competitiveness of Chungbuk companies, and we will continue to actively support our local businesses in expanding overseas.”
